Puppies Puppies Everywhere!

Well, the big day finally happened! Jeff and I took a 2.5 hour drive to Columbia City, IN to pick our our little Golden Retriever puppy! We pulled up to a small house with more Golden Retrievers running around then I have ever seen at one time before. It was like I had died and gone to heaven.

There were two small pens filled with yappy little puppies greeting us as we got out of the car. The breeder lead us over to the pen with "our litter" and that's when the selection process began.

Since we had the 4th pick, they brought us to another area of the yard, away from the others with 5 adorable little pups. We were told to play with them all and do whatever "tests" we needed to do to ensure we were getting the right puppy for us. Jeff and I were both attracted to the same two...the one with the blue string and the one with the yellow string tied around their necks.

It was a hard decision, but at the end of the day, the decision was unanimous....we selected the yellow puppy....now officially known as Cooper!

Now the puppy preparation really begins. We are awaiting the arrival of the crate we purchased on Ebay and are now in the process of selecting a Vet, finding the right food (and treats of course!), and buying all the right accessories like food/water bowls, collars, a leash, and toys.

I am so excited I can't stand it, only 10 more days! The countdown is on.....

Kristin's Baby Shower

Today I had the honor of hosting my sister-in-law, Kristin's, first Baby Shower! The guest list included my mom, Kristin's mother-in-law, Kristin's mom, Kristin's aunts and cousins, and all of the Weber family church/family friends. Kristin and her husband have decided to not find out the sex of the baby, so the theme of the shower was the same theme as their nursery...Stars and Moons.

As with all of our parties, there was tons of food. We had spinach quiche, pasta salad, cucumber sandwich appetizers, fruit salad with cinnamon and sugar chips, cinnamon rolls, brownies, and of course, cake. We purchased the cake from a bakery in Greenwood called, "A Piece of Cake." Besides being incredibly cute, it was delicious as well!

We ate, played games, and watched Kristin open mounds of presents! We passed around a journal for the guests at the shower to give well wishes and/or advice to the new-parents-to-be. I have never seen Kristin look so happy! Everyone seemed to really enjoy themselves. I couldn't have asked for a more perfect day for such a deserving expecting mom!

Preparing For Puppy

Great news! We have finally decided to get a puppy! I can't even begin to explain how incredibly excited I am! As far back as I can remember, I have had a love for Golden Retrievers. I mean, what's not to love? Besides being super cute, they are intelligent, loving, and loyal. I was seriously thinking about getting one when Jeff and I met 5 years ago. Jeff reminded me that I was working 3 jobs, living in a small apartment, and rarely ever home. Good point....I guess. Now that we are married, each of us working one job, and have a wonderful fenced-in backyard, there doesn't seem to be any better time like the present!

Right after we got home from our Honeymoon, I started searching for the perfect Golden Retriever breeder. I finally found one located in Columbia City, IN. The best part is that their puppies will be available "around April 8th." So, Jeff and I put down a deposit and are now in the process of waiting for the weeks to pass by. What I love so much about this breeder is that she sends us weekly pictures of the puppies as they grow! This is t
heir 4 week picture...this week, they experienced their "first real meal!" Looks kind of gross and messy, I'm glad I wasn't the one who had to clean up after that!

In this litter, there are 8 boys and 2 girls. We decided we wanted a boy. The breeder lets you select your puppy in the order they receive your deposit. As of right now, we have the 4th pick. I look at a picture like this and wonder, how on earth will we ever decide between all these adorable little faces?! This is going to be harder than I thought....

Girl's Weekend!

This past weekend was my first "girls only" weekend since Jeff and I got married. The guys were all together in Bloomington at a Bachelor Party for our friend Diddy. So, us girls decided to go out and have some fun of our own!

On Friday night, my friends Amber, Stephanie, and I went to see Alice in Wonderland in 3D at the IMAX theater. Since Tim Burton was the director, it had some really bazaar parts, but overall, it was a really great film! I definitely recommend this movie to anyone who is a Johnny Depp fan!

Saturday night was a little more eventful! Six of us got dressed up and met at Angie's house in Broad Ripple. We had a glass of wine before heading out for the evening. We decided to go to Harry and Izzy's for appetizers and cocktails. From there, we moved onto Nicky Blaine's for martinis. I had a Vanilla flavored drink that was wonderful! At that point, we decided we had enough of being downtown and headed back to "our home" in Broad Ripple. We ended up at a place called Midtown Grill where they played great music and we danced the night away!

I missed Jeff while he was away, but I had a great weekend with my girlfriends! It is so nice to be able to get some "girl time" every once in a while!
